Residential Admissions

Help for you or a loved one starts with a phone call. Call us at (218) 327-1105. Our admissions team is available Monday through Friday to respond to questions and assist you in the process of getting help.

We understand.

We will help you navigate the process of getting help, including completing assessments or referrals, as well as navigating the approval process for insurance or public funding. The process is unique for each family’s situation.

We also admit patients directly from hospitals and/or detox facilities and we can help you with that process. Call for information on that process.

Transportation Policy
Northland Recovery does not provide transportation to and from our location for court appointments or non-emergency medical appointments. However, we do provide transportation for residential clients to off campus, self-help meetings.

You can reschedule most appointments and court dates when you are receiving treatment for your addiction.

Medical Services / Pharmacy Services
Certain medical services may be required during your treatment stay. Northland Recovery provides basic on-site primary care services with emergency and specialty care available through local providers. Private and public medical insurance will cover most medical services. Prior to admission, you need to enroll in an insurance plan as free medical care is not provided.

Policies and Procedures

We are pleased that you have chosen Northland Recovery Center for your treatment. We trust your stay will be a life changing and positive experience.

What do I need to bring?

1. Three to four changes of comfortable everyday clothing. We have a no-cost laundry facility. If you have soap allergies, please bring your own soap.
2. Workout and swim wear as you will go to the YMCA as scheduled. One-piece suits for women, and swim trunks for men, are required.
3. Personal care items such as shampoo, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.
4. Appropriate jacket or coat for the season
5. Optional: small alarm clock
6. Optional: change for the pop machine
7. Optional: Letter writing materials and stamps
8. As rooms are shared, please limit personal belongings.

Physical Examination
If possible, please have a history and physical exam before entering treatment. A mantoux (TB) test will be administered upon admit. Non-emergency dental and vision needs should be taken care of either before entering treatment or after discharge.

Medications
If you are taking medications, you must bring them in their original container. We cannot accept daily pill organizers. Bring enough of your prescription to last your entire stay. Please bring money for any prescription medication copays.

Medical Supplies
Plan ahead by getting supplies from your doctor before you arrive. This will lower your medical costs and prevent interruptions in your care while you are in residence.

Smoking
This is a smoke-free building, however, you may smoke out on the patio. If you are a smoker, please bring a supply of cigarettes with you.

You may send and receive mail. Men’s address is 1215 SE Seventh Ave., Grand Rapids, MN 55744.
Women’s Medium Intensity address is 213 SE 11th St, Grand Rapids, MN 55744, and the Women’s High Intensity address is 510 SE 13th St, Grand Rapids, MN 55744.

Passes
There are no passes.

Do Not Bring:

Visiting
Mens: Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Women’s High Intensity: Saturday or Sunday from 2-4 pm
Women’s Medium Intensity: 2-3 hours on Saturday or Sunday; specific time will be approved by counselor.
You are allowed two visitors at a time. No cell phones, purses, backpacks, beverages, or food is to be brought in by visitors. Visitors must sign in on arrival.

Family Education
Family education is every Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. This is for adults and teens 16 and older, no children. We can arrange a special time for them if desired. When family education is finished you will have time to visit with your family member from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. In order to visit your family member on this day, you must attend all of the programming.

Medical Assistance
If you think you are eligible for medical assistance, apply at your county social services agency before coming in. The appliction takes up to 45 days to be processed, so please do this ASAP. If you intend to apply for medical assistance while you’re here, please bring a certified copy of your birth certificate and a photo I.D.

Cars
We do not have space for client cars. If you drive here, you need to make arrangements for someone to pick up your car ASAP. Until then, the car must be locked and the keys given to staff to be locked with your other valuables.
